Sharps 50-70 / S.F. Hayward & co. line shooter
I found in the attic an old Sharps rifle in original case with blanks, projectiles, and line. I was told this was an emergency line throwing device used by the NY fire dept. in the 1800's. The wooden case is labeled S.F. Hayward & Co. Any information including values would be appreciated.

The last one of these I saw was marked "U.S.Life Saveing Service" which was the forerunner of the Coast Guard. With the case, line throwing rods, cartridges ect. It went at auction for $1800 if my memory serves me correctly and that was 21/2 or 3 years ago. 0
