Winchester 1873
I have found a 1873 22short, however, it
can be converted to shoot longs with the
movement of a bullet stop located on the side
of the block.
The gun operates well, the finish is better
than 50% and the wood is ok.
Is this gun really rare? What is it worth?
any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are so many variations and features which may or may not be present on your gun, plus, EXACT condition and degree of originality make such a huge difference in value on the older Winchester levers - it would only be possible to generalize a large range of values. "Parts" guns with virtually no collector interest still bottom out at $350. Average guns with considerable wear are being offered at $500-$1000. Truly nice collectable 73's go from there up. Best to have the gun professionally appraised.
