not positive but i heard someone say that most 9mm made after like 1986 should be +p rated.

Ok, I just bought a Ruger P89, and will be getting it soon as it comes to my local FFL holder. What is the difference between this and the normal 9mm ammo?

+P ammunition produces more pressure than your typical ammo when fired. Because of this tremendous pressure, the barrel errodes quicker when used in a substantial amount compared to a regular ammo.-Smooth
Life is the leading cause of death.Everything else is just a contributing factor.

braonan,Ruger's P-series pistols are rated for +P+ ammo (Yes, I said +P+).It says so right in the manual--if you don't have a manual, Ruger will send you one for free. It's a tough "brick" (refering the Dr's comment in the "P95" post on this board). And lest I forget, Ruger's PC9 carbine is built to handle +P+ ammo too![This message has been edited by competentone (edited 10-06-2001).]
