I've got an SAR-1, they're ok, no malfunctions, but they truly are "made from parts" guns. I had one with a bent and rewelded operating rod, and exchanged it for a new one which had a slightly off angle sight, though the front sight blade just had to be adjusted a little to the right. I have a friend who brought one which had no flaws, however. It's kind of a gamble, but even the losing guns will still function fine. I've shot 3 different ones and never had a malfunction.[This message has been edited by ED P (edited 10-08-2001).]

They're right about bthe MAADI. Unless you are thinking of or are actually waiting for something to go wrong with the rifle (like I am), dont get one. The SAR's seem to be getting good reviews from everyone. You have to remember that AK's are AK's and that will be that. It all boils down to personal preference in the end.good luck-Smooth

The SARs are good rifles, but like any firearm, you should inaspect it before you buy it. I bought my SAR 3 through a local dealer. All the SARs I have come across have be in good shape, but metal finish is something to be desired. Any of the SAR models are a good choice. Good Luck!
