Need info on Wards SS
I have a friend who has a Wards Side by Side 20 gauge marked Wards Western Field Delux. The only other markings that could be a model marking are SB530. Any idea who made these for Wards? This one is @ 65 years old, is in excellent shape, very tight lockup and looks to be very well made. Any info would be appreciated. Is a family heirloom & is NOT for sale.

My store brand cross-over list does not include the SB530. However it does list the SB620 which is the Stevens 620 and SB85 which is the Stevens 85 and SB87 which is the Stevens 87. Assuming that the pattern holds for SB530, then it would be the Stevens model 530. There is the model 530A and the model 530M. Either way you are looking at a gun that has a value of approximately $300. 0 -
If the Stevens model is going for circa $300 then the Wards model will be worth half that or less. Value is a function of demand and there is almost no demand for the models made for Wards/Sears/Western Auto because there is essentially no collector market. They can be very economical shooters and family heirlooms, but probably will never have great value. 0
