Sig Problem...
I never though that a problem could occur with my Sig, but it seems I was wrong again.I checked it out today and found that when fired (attempted anyway), the hammer locked in the decocked position but didn't strike the firing pin. I can push the hammer to the firing pin with my thumb, but it rests in the "decocked postion".Is there something I may have overlooked? Has anyone else had this problem with a 229?christian

Are you saying that the pistol did not fire when a cocked hammer was released by the trigger? If so, the pistol has a mechanical problem. Take it apart and look for a broken part. 0 -
Yes.... that's the problem. From a fully cocked position, the hammer only travels to the position of being de-cocked. It doesn't strike the pin.I'm guessing that I'm supposed to ship it off to sig for repairs.Dammit, I though these things were indestructable. This thing is only a few months old.christian 0 -
Send it to SIG. It definitely has a problem and they will fix it. Problems are VERY rare with these guns. Our PD bought around 55 of them and have had zero problems to date.

Yeah, no kidding, so would I. I have personally found SIGs to be more reliable than Glocks, but you make your own choice.I could fix it for you if I had it in hand, but SIG will fix it for free.Even Chevrolets break once in a while.

You know, SIG's are more accurate than Glocks of HK's (or so they say). The disappointment I had with them was with my 2340. Bought new, and the damn magazine release assembly well....disassembled itself several times in the first 50rds. through the gun. Traded it for a glock 19 with high caps the same week and been happy ever since. The current owner had to send it back to SIG for repairs eventually (yes, I told him about the defect before the trade). The only regret I have is seeing the price tag on those nowadays...$600+ against the $340 I paid for three years ago.Anyone wants to sell me a cheap SIG? lol-Smooth

I know I'm going to say something absolutely disgraceful but I'm not a big 1911 fan. They're great guns and all but I've just had some bad luck that has put enough of a bad taste in my mouth for them. I loved my Sig duty pistol that the Army issued me and I am looking for a compact pistol in .45 ACP. Right now I have a S&W 457 which is a great little gun and accurate as heck for being an "economy" gun. However, my eyes are now turning towards the SIG 245. Has anyone had any experience with this gun? Is it reliable and accurate in the spirit of the rest of Sig's fine firearms? Does anyone know what I should be looking for as far as price is concerned on a new or used/excellent condition Sig 245? 0
