Wolf ammo in Ruger Mini 30
Does Wolf ammo have unusually hard primers? I have a brand new Mini 30 and experienced 4 misfires today during a 25 round string using Wolf FMJ ammo. The primer hits looked a little light, and a second time through the gun fired them. Has anyone else had this problem? Does this sound like a problem with the rifle or a hard primer problem?

A friend of mine has a ruger mini-30 and he has the same problem. The instructions that come with the rifle say not to use any ammo other than U.S. factory ammo. He found that the primers on SOME Russian ammo is recessed more than on other ammo. This is the stuff that is giving him trouble. He "worked" with the firing pin on his rifle and while he still has an occasional misfire it is much better. You might contact Ruger they are known for their customer service. 0 -
Ive never had a problem with wolf in my AK (7.62) or in my Mini-14 (.223) 0 -
never had a problem using wolf in my ruger mini-30, in fact, won't use anything else 0 -
I have used about 500 rounds of Wolf 7.62 with my Mini-30, and have also had a few misfires. (maybe 1 in 30) I put the misfired round into the chamber and it allways fires on the second try. Hey, it's cheap ammo, what do you expect? At least it isn't corrosable. 0 -
Wolfe brand .223 seems to work better in my ar-15, mini-14 and ak (sar3) than the Winchester ammo I was buying at Walmart. The end is rounded off more and very few jams, especially if I happen to be using a USA or Western Metal Mag in the Mini 14 0
