Beachnut: I assume that is at the edge of the Atlantic ocean instead of a brand of chewing tobacco????Sile is a distributor and inporter located in New York, New York. They have lots of stocks and grips. They have also had various firearms "private labeled" with their name on them. My 50 caliber cap-lock is a "Sile" - I don't know who made it for them, but it is Italian made and built like a Sherman tank. I know they also had a 12 gauge muzzle-loading barrel that could replace the 50 caliber barrel but I have never been able to find one.The only over/under that I know they imported under their name was the Sile Field Master which was 12 gauge, 3 inch chambers, 28 inch barrels and a variety of different of chokes. I don't have a clue who made them. Perhaps AntiqueDr. could help you out there. As to value - they were inexpensive shotguns - retailing for $450 when brand new.

Sile was an importer, not a manufacturer. What other markings are on the shotgun?

Thanks! There are no other markings on the gun, however I do believe its the model you are referencing. It is a o/u 12 guage, 28" vent rib barrel, 3" shells. Thanks again,Fred

Beachnut:Near the rear end of the barrels (usually left hand side), near where they butt up against the receiver, or on the receiver itself under the barrels, there should be some proof marks. If the proof mark looks like a "raggedy" circle with a star inside of the circle and the letters "PSF" under the circle with the star in it, then we know it was Italian made. Also, there could be the "raggedy" circle with the star in the circle and "FINITO" under the circle with the star (or both proof mark may be there), then again we know that the shotgun was Italian made.
