Single stack AK47
Just put 2 10 shot Romanian AK-47s on lay-a-way for my 13 year old and myself.They were much cheaper because they won`t accept hi-cap magazines.Has anybody tried one of these? They look pretty rough,but seem to work.What kind of 5 shot groups should we expect with the fmj ammo?Can you buy folding stocks for them.I`m seeing folding stocks for SKS rifles in Shotgun News.DD

Dana, these guns will perform the same as other AK's. They'll be capable of several inch groups at 100 yards. As for folding stocks, no way. These guns are exclusively "post-ban". It would be a felony to put a folding stock on one. Although some have been mis-informed, it would also be illegal to modify or attempt to modify these guns to take a high capacity magazine. They were only allowed into the country because they couldn't take a high cap mag. Again, that's why they are so much cheaper. Other than the limitation on the mag, these guns should handle just like any other AK. 0 -

I heard that you can change out the internals and do a little bit of minor home milling and it will accept double column mags. This is illegal, so I wouldn't go bragging to everyone that you did it if you do. But I seriously doubt the ATF will be kicking in your door. Same with the folding stock. And if you did get cought, more than likely they'd just confinscate them, because it'd be really hard to get a jury to convict you. In reality, laws like that look good for politicians, but they never blow over well in court. Thats why you never really hear of anyone going to jail for stuff like that. Just my idiotic oppinion, don't take me to seriously. 0 -
i dont think the mag thing is a problem......but lee, are you willing to risk it? if you are then more power to you...but i would never take the chance, i have too much going for me at this point in my life. 0 -
If you're going to go to all that effort, time, and expense, then risk jail time... I don't know... maybe just buying one that is already legally in that configuration...maybe that might be a good idea...Just a thought. 0 -

There was a large advertizer listing in SGN offering to add enough US made parts and do the necessary machine work to allow it to take double stack mags. I don't think they would be advertizing to do that in a publication like SGN if it was illegal (and I don't think SGN would allow it). It's my understanding that if enough US made parts are added, it can be made to accept double stack mags legally.The folding stock is another matter. 0 -
Its not illegal to do it to your gun, just to sell one that has been done to. Once you get it in your possesion, you can convert it or modify it to accept double stack mags, its the same loop that allows you to use hi-cap mags in post ban guns.Don't listen to Lee, I just saw him, he's just ranting cause his dillon press had to go back. 0
