Value of PP
What is the value of a PP .32 acp made in 1941. Mint- new , bright blue commercial finish, with a notch cut in the front sight for a radiumm night sight

P0838-What a shame: a choice collectible altered and it's value sharply decreased. What you have WAS a fine collectible. It's now just a shooter. I would put a value of $250-275 on this altered pistol and horsewhip the person who ruined it! 0 -
Luger01. The notch was done by Walther and was standard issue at the beginning of the war 0 -
I have to admit that in all my years I have never seen that factory modification nor read about it. I've collected many Walthers, too.If this is a factory modification, then it's pretty rare and I'd say it's worth well above the book value for a mint PP, probably in the $700-$1000 range. Maybe someone else here knows about this modification and can put a better value on the pistol. 0 -
Luger 01 Sources for this are among others Whittington Vol 1 German Pistols and Holsters, Book of Pistols and Revolvers by Smith and the Books on Walther PP AND PPK by Rankin The detachable sight that was attached was called "leuchtkorn" 0
