S&W Model 29

Just received a S&W 50th anniversary model 29. I am not happy with the ring on the cylinder. The ring is through the bluing about a half inch between each chamber. Talked to dealer I got it from and the other two he has in stock are the same way. Does not seem correct for a so called collectors peice to have this bad of a ring. What is your take on this.

  Can't get on the S&W web site today. Does anyone know if Smith still makes a 629 in what I believe they referred to as a "Mountain" something or other? It had a three inch barrel, rosewood grips and I do not believe it was ported. Any idea on the retail$$$???Thanks all.

  The Backpacker with 3" barrel wholesales for $486.95 from Ron Shirk's. The 4" Mountain Gun is $469.95.

  SaxonPig is right on the 629. It is a .44cal and ranges from $295 at 95% to $400 at 100%. These are "Blue book" values. Of course, like anything else, Its value is whatever you or anyone else is willing to pay for it.

  Right on the 3" 629. The Mountain Gun is also a 629...as is the Backpacker...as is the Classic.
