Check the "On Line" Auction, For Sale ads in the Shotgun News and Gun List publications. Expect to pay dearly.

Its kinda a shame. I think the Dragunovs are highly overpriced. But there rarity in the US, and importation factors make the price just outragious.Be careful when you shop for Dragunov's too. The only real ones are actually from Russia. Others are just knock offs based on the kalashnikov design. The Romanian Romak III is not a real dragunov. I've also seen Yugo Zastava M76 dressed up like them too. The real Dragunov's have a unique gas piston system different from the AK's.

there are also Chinese Dragunovs and they are just like the Russians use the same mags and all parts will interchange with the Russians mine is 7.62x54r and they can be bought for about 1,800 to 2,200 if you haven't seen one try to find a picture of one they look great and work really well! also the Russians went to china and helped them build these rifles just like they did with the sks its not unusual to find chinese guns with Russian proof marks!hope this helps

Yes, but, from what I hear, the Chinese Dragunov is poorly made. The parts are all milled. They didn't borrow the plans from Dragunov, they stole them and made them in their cheap manor. I really don't want a Chinese Dragunov. Anything Chinese (other than food o_~) I avoid. Also, the Chinese Dragunov is not a 7.62.

HR Dictator is right, the chinese dragunovs are very very poor quality. Way overpiced at $1800-2000. You could litarly have a gunsmith make one of higher quality for you for cheaper. The chinese, made theres the same way they make alot of guns. They use captured or stolen arms, and copy them directly, no machinist plans. And they aren't made for quality either. Sure there dragunovs use the same short stroke gas piston as the soviets, but the quality and accuracy will not compare.

The Chinese Dragonov's were made in 7.62x54 and .308. The very first ones in the country were the 7.62x54, the .308 ones didn't come in until much later. There have been problems with the .308, even a recall. The 7.62x54 cal Dragonovs from China take the exact same mag as the Russian. The Romak III from Romania may not be a dragonov, but it is a real military configuration. Unlike the Tiger model of Dragonov from Russia that was a shortened sporter model, made for the US market. The Romak III is the same gun as the Romanian military issues with only the bayonet lug removed. The majority of the Dragonovs from Russia that ended up on the US market were unfortunately the Sporter model with the shorter barrel and the black plastic forearm. I know guys that had them and got rid of them to get a Romaian, because it looked more correct to the original military design. Both guns are well made and both have a legitimate military counterpart. I doubt that either one of them would ever give a person reason for concern. The Russian ones are definitely more expensive today than they were in the mid 1980's. If you can find one today it will probably cost in the mid to upper teens. It may be possible to find a Romanian for under $1000.

Think what you want about the chinese guns but it is a great shooter and mine was made in 1979 a true military gun. i used to own a tiger also but the gun was not as good of a shooter as the chinese i also own a yugo in 308 true ak not m90 and it doesn't shoot that well either. fit and finish on the chinese dragunov is way better than romanian guns also the romanian gun doesn't share the same gas system or the same mags as a real dragunov it's just a large Ak. one question how many of you actually shot a chinese drag?? and have any of you heard of any parts breakage?? on a 7.62x54r I have over a 1,000 rounds through mine with no malfunctions or failure to feeds even with crappy ammo. it makes no sense to pay 4,000 to 5,000 for a russian that you won't want to shoot if your looking for accuracy in any gun don't buy a dragunov buy a remington 700 or the likes you will be much happier and as far as stole the plans from the russian look up the history of the drag and the sks/ak and you will find that your wrong. the chinese did steel alot of american made gun designs but not russians the just gave it to them!

I can actually say that I've shot one, in the .308 configuration. Handled one in 7.62x54R. The .308 was a piece of junk in my humble opinion. As far as fit and finish, neither of them come close to the soviet, the .308's accuracy didn't even compare. And the Tiger model, I've never owned or tryed. The Romanian, I just recently (about 3 months back) purchased one for $800, and as far as quality, excedes the chinese model. If you have one that you say is nicer than the Romanian model, are you sure its not a real soviet made one imported and distibuted thru china, and exported to the US? Being as old as you say it probably is. I didn't know that the chinese made them back then.

mine was made in 1979 it is stamped under the front of the mag well above that is a triangle with 26 in it on the right side its etched in norinco ndm 86 s# is in the low 1,000 range imported by ksi pomona california it's a black laquer finish but the wood is not the same color as that of the chinese 308 guns its darker than the chinese guns not as orange. I have the infared detection scope for it still and it still works but i have gone to the 8 power for long distance shooting. at 200 yards with standard russian ammo it will bring groups about the size of a tenis ball with better ammo it is about the size of a golf ball. one other thing that bothers me about people saying chinese guns are junk why do they still bring the high dollars like when i see a poly legend go for 1,500 new in box the other thing i did find out is that norinco slides on there 45's are better steel than that of a colt! ask any good ipsc shooter and they will tell you they know someone that is very good with a norinco framed gun. thanks for your input i might have to look my gun over more and see if it might be a russian after all who knows i have a bulgarian makarov with izmesh markings and dated 1976 so anything is possible.

Darin is right on about the NDM SVD Dragunov. Talk is cheap. A Russian SVD will cost you over $3000 if you can find one. The Chinese model can be had for around $2000. You can buy a lot of ammo with a $1000. If you want the Russian stamp on the gun by all means get it, but do not discount the Chinese model for it compares side by side with the Russian. Having said that I can sell you a NDM SVD Chinese Dragunov with all the goodies for $2200 plus shipping!! Thanks, Steve
