.22 K-Hornet Reloading
I have been thinking about rechambering all my guns. It started with a thread a while back about rechambering the .30-30 to the Ackley Improved, which I'm going to do, but now I'm addicted. I want to rechamber everything for ammunition that cannot be purchased in stores. Anyway, I may be adding a .22hornet to my collection, a little Ruger K77/22VHZ and was thinking of rechambering it for the .22 K-Hornet.Does anyone have any experience with the .22 K-Hornet?Any load data?Improvement from Hornet to K-Hornet?

It looks to me that you should get some books.There is a whole lot of satisfaction in having a good reference library.Hours upon hours of great enjoyment can be had for a few bucks.The other thing is the knowledge that you can impart to others who can't or won't read.Ken Waters wrote a great book on wildcats that you could start with.modoc 0 -
Thanks, yea, I guess I should add some more books to my library. I have about 2 shelves of the big thick buyers guides, blue books, gun bibles, ect, and numerous stacks of monthly publications (magazines).Are there any specific books that you'd recommend? 0 -
Lee I coyote hunted for a couple years with a friend who bought a Win 43 in .22 Hornet. He didn't think it had enough power so he had a local gunsmith convert it to K. The gun didn't seem to group as well as before, and as you know was worth less money. 0 -
Are you rich and retired by any chance? I got into the wildcat thing and spent lots of money and huge amounts of time on gun projects, that are usually hard to sell if you ever tire of them and usually with results that are matched or bettered by off the shelf modern cartridges. Had lots of fun though. You really should search out a big thick book called "Wildcat Cartridges Volume II" from Wolfe Publishing, you won't believe the things that have been tried over the years. 0 -

Punched a Ruger #3 to "K", several years ago. A very fun and economical firearm. Did have problems with groups, but went to Hornady 45 grain "Bee" bullets seated out to the lands and "dogs" out to 125 yards or so do not find the round enjoyable. Great fun, great combination, totaly happy! If youi want to punch acalibre, punchit! Who knows, you may like it! GW. 0 -

The 'k' is surely an improvement over the basic hornet,which is not a very good round,with it`s sloppy shoulders, it just kinda fills a void between 22mag. and .222.But it does not fill the void like the .218 Bee does. .218

I had them all! 218 Bee may be your answer. lots of fun holding over to woodchuck boiler room. 222, 22-250, 220S.,anything in between, I had them all,but I glass bedded my Model 43,andlots of trigger work,Unertel scope and wood chucks have OUT! 0 -
yeah,yan35,I have one in a 43 win.,also a 1894cl Marlin,there harder to find than a hornet though.Got it all ass backerds,my lever gun is tapped,and my bolt gun isn`t. 0
