Best Battle Rifle .308 caliber??
I am thinking of buying a Vepr or a Saiga .308 caliber. I see Century arms has the "Century 58 with Imbel receivers for sale, are these a good value?? they seem sililar to the HK 91 variants. Are the new American made receivers any good?Should I buy a parts kit and a Imbel receiver?Any advice on a .308 semi would be appreciated??Paul

Those are not like HKs.They are FAL variants and the ones with Imbel receivers are pretty good bargains.CAI has a shotty rep but the guns can be made quite reliable for $60 and the mags are only $5.You can get the CAI,10 mags, new gas system for $600 and have a great battlerifle.Just make sure it is the Imbel receiver and is Metric.cpermd 0 -

HK-91 (and clones) have the receiver welded to the trunion (or pinned if you get the Federal Arms receiver).FN-FAL, STG-58, L1A1 and more than you can list have a barrel that screws into the receiver. My money is on the old fashioned, screw the barrel into the receiver.Buy the FAL.(And yes, I have both) 0 -
If your on a budget the FAL is tops. If you have the dead presidents for a M1A, I prefer them. The HK91 (G3, CETME, etc.) is a fine reliable battle rifle it only falls behind the other two beacause it's loud, kicks more, and mangles the brass (bad for those that reload). The FAL is arguably the easiest to maintain(of all guns)and shoot due to an adjustable gas system. The M1A is the most accurate. And yes, I own all three.Andy 0 -
A friend of mine has a Stoner SR-25. Really accurate, but is really picky on ammo. It likes match ammo. 0
