Would need the last three digits to be more precise on the date of manufacture, but here is what Herbert G.Houze's book "The Winchester Model 52" says.August 3, 1948 69,905August 12, 1948 70,105August 23, 1948 70,325September 7, 1948 70,605September 13, 1948 70,705September 17, 1948 70,825September 27, 1948 70,905September 28, 1948 71,06552's are one of my alltime favorites, they say "there are .22's and then there are 52's"My guess is about $500-$1000, the ten round magazines are hard to find. they are probably worth about $40-$50 each[This message has been edited by Rembrandt (edited 09-04-2001).]

Thanks, Rembrandt. The actual serial # is 70032. I guess that would date it right in between August 3 and August 12, 1948. I didn't realize it was that old. I agree with you that this is one of my all-time favorites as well. I used to shoot in some smallbore indoor 4-position competitions with it. I haven't shot it for almost 15 years. We used to shoot 8" clangers at 300-yards at the gun club without a problem...open sights, too. I'm not even close to the original owner of this since I'm only a little more than half as old as the rifle itself. I just picked it back up this past weekend, so I thought I'd check into it. Thanks again.
