According to the 2001 Blue Book of Gun Values (can be downloaded on net for $10)it states the Winchester Super Pigeon Grade 12 ga is worth $4025 at 100%-the last MSR was $4590-again this is for the Super Pigeon with gold inlays-it was imported 1985-1987 so it may not be same as yours- 0 -
Wrong gun. Realistic value on your Model 12 Pigeon is $2500 - $3000.The Remington is around $1750 - $2000.I would be interested...

In the show circuit I normally attend, neither of these would rate a second glance. Neither are "hunting" machines. They are way out the the price range of those attending the show. However, in the last show that I went to in Savannah, Georgia, and one in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, I have seen one of the shotguns you mention in your post. In each case they were asking around $2000 for the shotguns. Whether or not they got these asking prices, I don't have a clue.If you have a vent-rib barrel for a 20 gauge, standard weight, pre-war, A5, I would be interested in knowing about it, if you put it up for auction at this site. 0 -
super pigeons were made on pre 64 receivers leftover from production. all pre 64 receivers were sent to the custom shop and used on custom orders. the super pigeon is a 1980 series gun that should have a Y in front of the serial number and plate 5 engraving. well...at least mine does. a picture of your gun should help a lot. ole 'only winchesters' will nail it down closer than me with it. hope this helps.

That's what I like about this place. Might take four years, but we'll get 'em all answered.

Hello browningcollector: WINCHESTER MD12 PIGEON GRADE! is what you asked about, I don't know why someone mentioned Super Pigeon grade.
Anyway vintage is everything!! What you don't say is it a Trap or Skeet, Does it have a 2 Pin Vent Rib, 3 Pin Vent rib, the last style vent rib, or possibly a Solid Rib? Does it have any engraving? Does it have "Standard" Pigeon stocks, "A" carved, or "B" carved stocks? If it's a Trap does it have a Monte Carlo butt, or straight?
If you can post the serial number like this, 1555xxx I might be able to tell you a lot more. If it's a late "standard" pre-64 with the last style rib, nothing else $$1800-$2600 on any give day. If it's the 2 Pin version with the 1/2in matt leading up to a matted duck bill ramp, about $2250-$3250. So as you can see depending on exacly what you have the price can very greatly. Can you give more detail?

The original post was from 2001. I hope the transaction is not still pending.

well, it is good training for you OW. shows we were around before you got here! and it shows how lost we were too![:D]so anyway...using this post as a basis to talk about mine........Y1966xxx frame on a super pigeon is what i got. its the one with the pic of the lose forearm. do you agree its a 1980ish gun?0 -
Hi Bob: I'm afraid I don't agree that it's an 80's gun. Super Pigeons were made from 1964-1972, based on your serial number that's when it was made. As far as I know, starting in 1972 all Md 12's made in New Haven, had a "Y" designation. (Japanese Md 12's have a completely different serial number system)
Now in about 1982-1984 Jaqua contracted with Winchester for 500 Pigeon Grade guns. These guns were assembled in the Custom shop prior to it's closure. These also had the "Y". I have one of those guns, Pigeon with #2 engraving.
