huntral, the 250 Savage is the case that the 22-250 Rem. came from,it is one of my 3 favorite calibers,it kicks much less than a .243 Win. I have 2 99s in it,and one of my 2 rare M-20 Savage boltguns is in it as well.I buy ammo at gun shows for 12 to 18 bucks even though I load for it.Be careful for bad reloads at shows in this cal.You will love this round,I have around 24 Savage rifles ,I wish I could have a nice 110 Savage in .250
Will the last reb to leave flarda, please bring the flag?

.250 Savage is still available from Remington in the 100grn Power-Point. I pick mine up from Bass-Pro for about $15.00 a box.Regards,BigTex

You know what they say obout opinions.I think BeeKeeper is about right, it more compairs with a 22-250. Here is what I heard, they dropped the 3000 because it was too hard to get on the rim of the case. 25 thousants dia. 3000 feet per sec.

My M-99 Savages are extremely accurate in this round, extreme for a lever gun.

When I was a boy, my grandad had a savage 99 in the 250-3000 round. After shooting a couple of deer with a 30-30, and having to chase or bloodtrail, I decided I had to have a gun like paps. Seemed he dropped everything in it's tracks. Well, I bought a 250 savage in a 99, about 1980. Mine was a new model, with a tang safey. Savages are not noted for having good wood, but mine had a beautiful piece of wood. Well I bought a model 700 in 25-06, and eventually sold the 99. Bad Move! I still prefer the 25-06, but that little 250-savage hits em hard. I was looking for a rifle for my daughter, and was lucky enough to find a Model 700 Classic in .250 Savage. Someone boogered the Crown. But it can be fixed. I'm going to start a load of 35.5 grains of IMR-4895 and a 87 grain Sierra, and we'll see what happens.

beekeeper, I posted on the wanted to buy on GB, and in one day, had one on the way. I just got it two weeks ago. I just today finished loading 20 rounds for it. By the time the brass, bullets, arrived, and I found the time, well you know. Daughter's a cheerleader for the tiny team, and now there is no time for dad. I'm expecting great things, and hope I'm not dissappointed. It is the 700 classic made in 1984. The one I picked up is about 95% except for the crown. They have a 24" barrel, and I'm hoping to get around 3200 fps. Just thought you might want to know the year of production, so you could post on GB. If I could find one NIB, I'd buy it, and sell you mine. I had to give $400.00 + S&H. I did not think that was too bad. Butcher
