Before you worry about either, do you have the necessary address to be able to purchase Class 3 firearms. Some States just say no. And you'll need about $4 to 5 Grand or more for a 16. The XM-177 will be a whole lot more as it was strictly experimental so, IF, there's one on the market, it'd likely go into the high 5 figures at least.

As a toy it's neat looking and probably a lot of fun but as a combat weapon it's a big mistake. For the special effectiveness of the 223 where the bullet breaks at the cannilure and tumbles, creating two horrendous wound channels, you need at least 2650 fpm. This doesn't happen with these barrels shorter than 16". Of course you can always swap the barrel with an M4 contoured 16" barrel which wouldn't detract much from its' appearance and save a bunch of $.
