I have not heard much about them and was wondering if they were any good. I was looking for a scope for a 25-06 I bought myself for Christmas and happened to see one. 0 -
I had one on a handgun and it was a good scope. 0 -
for the dollar probably one of the best. AND the warranty is no questions asked. You hurt it they replace it. You will find the optics TOP notch. 0 -
For some updated & correct info, see under 'General Discussion',
Advise On Scopes. dated 11/27/02.
FYI, Swift warranty is not a "You hurt it, they replace it". If in doubt, see their written warranty.

As a dealer I had a lot of dealings with Swift and they told us to REPLACE it NO questions asked. We sent them back for full credit. I doubt that changed in a few years. I read the warranty and it's a lawyers dream, but the firm stands fully behind their products. Pretty much like Taurus. 0 -
If what you say,....is actually happening,....this kind of falsifying warranty, or encouraging a customer to misrepresent what happened, even though you say, 'they paid you', doesn't provide for honest responsibility for what happened.
Raises overall costs to consumers, not to mention, much less provide correct information to determine areas of needed improvment. By all concerned. Ie., user, Swift, and dealer.
Disagree with your opinion on the stated Swift warranty. It isn't a, "lawyers dream". But it's quite simple, and straight forward. Contrary to some of your previous statements.

Well I just got off the phone with the folks at Swift. Their warranty on RIFLE/PISTOL optics is LIFETIME. You take the scope to the dealer and exchange it and the dealer sends it in for replacement. To be blunt I sold countless scopes and few returned for any reason. One had a car door shut on it and we sent it in with explanation and they replaced it. One was submerged in water for a day and did leak and that was replaced with NO questions asked.
If I were to buy another scope or market scopes, I'd sell NOTHING but Swift. The side by side comparison is dramatic with far more expensive scopes and the prices is very attractive. Give em a call.
GREAT folks. I'm curious why you want to attack a great company with a great product. They don't advertise in gun rags thus they don't get much ink. Their main forte is highly technical medical microscopes and other high tech optics.0 -
No one is attacking Swift. Please reread all the posts.
Simply explaining/clarifying some apparent misunderstandings, and mistatements you have had about the product, and the THEIR warranty. I say, 'have had" now that you talked with them, and are 'updated'.
It is simple to read & understand Swift's Lifetime (no abuse-accident)warranty, but that is quite different from "Darrell's warranty" on Swift. According to you, just about anything goes, and it's covered.
Swift says differently.
When people ask for help/information we have an obligation to inform them correctly. Cold hard facts. Our opinions may vary, and even be opposite, but facts are facts.

Where are Swift scopes made?

I bought a Swift years, and I mean years ago. The binoculars are still
quality. Have no idea about warranty-purchased them from Herter's-old timers may rember the company. Still sharp. Made in Japan. 1010 -
It's NOT about My warranty as much as you wish it was. In the firearms industry you find folks like Swift, Taurus and Dillion reloading folks who stand behind their products. The fantastic customer support from such firms and I can toss in Ruger 99% of the time is not hard to find.
Two years ago an importer I know brought in some guns including a batch of older Taurus revovlers. He had three that didn't work. I bought them as "salvage" for $25 each. I got them and they were pretty much trashed. NO PROBLEM. I sent them off to Taurus and all three came back not only pretty much rebuilt but new grips and refinished and looked NEW. NO CHARGE.
The shooting community is a small one and if you don't take care of your customers word soon spreads. Unlike some consumer items it is a joy to buy most firearms and firearms related products. Swift scopes are in that catagory. I LOVE the fact I deal with the dealer with the "no hassle" warranty and don't even have to ship the product if I have a problem. When I decided to buy a spotting scope I looked at the $50 versions. I was GLAD to spend $450 for a SWIFT. It is precision and I see things other shooters don't and I have old eyes. EVERY scope I have is a Swift. They are a well kept secret.
If you get your hands on one just put it up against any other brand side by side. When we stocked Swift scopes and did this the sales of more expensive scopes came to a grinding halt. Only flaw Swift has in marketing is that they haven't fallen for the trends and market "tactical" scopes and paint them flat black and double the price. The proof is in the LOOKING. Don't buy one. You can pay more for a lesser product. No law against that.0 -
I've taken issue with the mistatements YOU made on coatings, the company, and especially misrepresentation of how to handle their warranty, not to mention the mistatement of their warranty.
Buyers who look at other optics will see that Swift is a good product, but definately, most certainly not the 'ultimate glass' as you prescribe.
Taking care of customers informatively, honestly, and correctly isn't about just giving things away.
If you chose not to sell anything else, then that's sad because you will be limiting not only your pfofitability, but a customer's choice. That's not good customer service.
PS: Example: No major player uses the following on their top models:
> Multipiece construction.
> Saddle mount' outdated design for strength & tightness
which is used on the best model, the Premier.

I NEVER said it was the "ultimate glass." No wonder reading a warranty is a stretch. I talked with the folks at Swift, you did NOT. Suggest you give the nice folks a call. I KNOW how they handle their warranty for a good reason. WE DID IT and my local dealer STILL DOES. Maybe they are just being nice to us. I guess the thing boils down to what YOU SELL. Me thinks it's not the Swift line.
Maybe you want to tell us which brands use PLASTIC lenses vs glass.
The MTF (modular transfer function) of Swift are equal to much higher cost items.
I found glare and flare with SWIFT to be less in side by side comparisons than many more expensive scopes. This was done in a semi professional enfironment in a TV studio where we had access to controlled lighting from various angles etc. A very simple effort but informative none the less.
We found less bleed as well using various test patterns at various ranges indoors and outdoors. NO question SWIFT is using top quality glass and coatings.
Being a professional photographer for years I learned about good glass and both have technology that apply to each other. I learned my Nikon's didn't need Nikon lenses. I found many far lower priced lenses served as well with at least equal quality.
The coating used by scope and lens makers are often are not revealed. It was obvious Swift does not use the single lens coating
Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2) but multiple coatings which is only found in better optics.
I found Swift scopes holding about 96-97% light transmission which is again better than most. If you get 100% the lens is NOT coated.
I also found Swift equal to more expensive scopes when it came to
chromatic aberration as well. No haze out at the edges etc.
The objective lens on all the scopes I ever looked at were indeed multi coated as well.
In marketing many firms will have scopes/lenses made by first like LOW (Light Optical Works) in Japan and after the mags review them switch to lower end optics. Some scopes that I caught doing this are Simmons Aetec, BSA Platinum, and the Tasco World Class.
When confronted at the Show Show they admitted it but said they didn't think they declined in quality (tisk tisk).
BSA btw marketed a huge line of scopes with PLASTIC lenses.
Nikon used to make top stuff but a number of years ago the rifle scope and other optical work was moved from Japan to the Phillipines. It shows.
I'm sure you know the formula for a lens for camera or scopes etc is decided by the customer. A plant like LOW can make incredible stuff for one firm and crapola for another. They make what they are told to make.
You do know and must admit TASCO of all folks got a big U.S. Military contract for sniper scopes blowing out Leupold. Tasco offered it for sale for a limited time. It's specs were far below those of Swift and many others. It had only ONE multi coated lens the objective. Few know that and bad mouth Tasco.
Few shooters understand optics and think buying by brand or by cost is a major safety net. NOT.
Few will know a low end from a top end if it wasn't for the brand name on it, and most of the major makers have made some very low end stuff with fancy names etc. It's about marketing.
Many of the better known names get the lenses not only in Japan but other areas of the Pacific Rim as it's called in the optical business. A recent heavy hitter in the past 10+ years has been Korea. The annual marketing fair for optics in Hong Kong has shown Korea to be a big player with many contracts lens buyers seldom mention trying to ride the tails of the Japanese repuation.
One thing you find is a total agreement the Chinese optics are not worth the money.
Swift offers a top product because they advertise very little (a big cost) and shop for the best suppliers. Again you can spend more.
It's not illegal.0
