1911 Swiss Rifle & Bayonet

I have a long 1911 Swiss Rubin straight pull rifle and just bought a 1911 Swiss sawtooth bayonet that is a hair too small for the rifle barrel. What is wrong? (See page 185-3 Janzen book)

  My reference tells me that there are at least two different "saw-tooth" bayonets for the Schmidt-Rubins. Both were apparently issued for use with the Carbine and thre is no reference to issue for use on the Rifle....
