how well do the t/c encores shoot
I am in the market for both a new black powder gun and a new rifle. I've thought about buying the encore and getting a rifle barrel. How well do these guns shoot?

I do not own a muzzleloader barrel or for that matter don't own one period but I have seen several of the 209/45 and 209/50 ML barrels being shot and they were very accurate! I have broken in some centerfire barrels for people in 22-250 and 308 and they needed 5 or 6 groups to settle in the stock. After that they were consistently .5 to .75 inch guns at 100 yards. I was impressed with the accuracy of them. That's with handloads that had worked in other guns before so that's where we started. I don't think you will go wrong if you want one. The only ones I've heard of being problems (as far as grouping) were 2 barrels in 25-06. I hated to hear that as that is my favorite caliber of all time!! GHD 0 -
I have one in the 209x50 cal. and 22z250 handgun. I cannot say enough about it. It shoots great, is easy to clean, and the sights are impressive. Get one. 0 -

Darn accurate, hands on experience. Again, for some reason, the
.25/06 was terrible. I have no reason why this caliber barrel was so poor. Tried all kind of hand loads. Never acheived what I would consider an accurate loading. Besides the .25/06, a heck of a single shot. 1010 -
I have the Encore in 209x50 and .308. Excellent accuracy from both. 0 -

dantheman, If you're going to spend that much on a muzzleloader, get the Encore and then get you a barrel in whatever caliber you want. Not that much difference in price on original purchase. I like them fine and think they are a great idea. Just my opinion. GHD 0 -

Encores are Great!! I have several calibers, handgun and rifle they all shoot and group excellent. I even have the 300 Win Mag, and overall recoil is not that bad, it is a heavy barrel. The muzzle loader I have also shoots great and not once has any of them let me down. You will not be sorry!
