Ruger P-90 revisited
Dano, lately I have been at the range with several of my well experienced LEO buddies that own the "best"(as in most expensive) handguns available. I always show up with my KP-90 and factory ammo, even though I own more expensive handguns. In 8 or so trips, I have not had a single problem with the Ruger, not so with the Glocks, Sigs, Colts, Kimbers, HK and S&W's. I have seen a lot of FTF and jams in the "best" guns. The Ruger hangs with the rest of them in the accuracy department too. Based on my limited experience, I'll rely on the Ruger P-90 without a second thought. BTW, I think all the manufacturers mentioned above make a great product but none are perfect.

I too had a P90 for a little while. I sold it. I didn't like the chunky feel and the trigger pull I thought could have been better but for the price it was a good gun and the reliability was perfect. The ruger fits a area where it is a good cost effective pistol. I think it might be a good choice for the military. 0 -

dano, 24 years and pretty much everything. now, gonna hold up your end of the deal?. and why if you are who you say you are is it so crazy? what do you have to hide? i didnt ask nor do i want a name. nope, not combative at all. i just find it strange some of the statements from a 25 year LE veteran. dano claimed in all those years he'd never seen any officer carry on or off duty any ruger product. before autos dominated you didnt see 1 sec. 6, service 6, speed 6, gp-100 or sp101? not to mention any p series auto?..not 1? your city, meetings in other locales, perp pick ups, etc? the ironic thing is in a post prior to that you not only knew of an agency that carried rugers, you said that those officers didnt like them. consistent statements? you are a remarkable guy, hats off. not only are you a police officer, you claim to do special jobs for uncle sam. busy fella. no i dont have a zillion posts on file, and never will. i;ll let others be my judge if i said anything out of line here or at the other p-90 post where this started. read it. please in fact. just to clearify, i would agree the sigs and h&k's are superior to the p90, i just think the p90 is capable in the areas which are required, i.e. reliability and accuracy. no bells and whistles, and not 100 percent user friendly.
however, my BERETTA has jammed, my p90 hasn't [;)]0 -
I think the Ruger was only used a few years by a few depts. I knew a few cops in Tempe that carried them for about 2yrs before Glocks became the standard here in AZ. They didn't care for them much and I was suprised to see how quickly they were replaced. Decent guns, but not great guns, got to go bang 99.99+% of the time to be a good duty weapon. Helps if they can hit the target too[;)] 0 -
Peace, children......peace. Ruger makes a good pistol, not as graceful or eye appealing as some, but just as reliable. And, we will get nowhere challenging forum member's bona fides; especially those of a long term, well respected member. This should be a forum of learning and assistance---agreed?
