WRK Worth of Colt 1911 circa 1915
Buddy has a complete Colt 1911, manufacture date of 1915, US property marked - all complete and all original - bluing is at around 40 percent, but no major damage apart from holster wear.

You're entering an area of highly collectable guns, and opinions will vary widely. In the condition you have described, I would estimate a value of about $400. 40% finish is not too good, as many of these pistols exist in 98% and up. 0 -

For once, I disagree w/Der. If this pistol is an honest 40% with all original parts, bore being excellent, I would atleast double the $400.00 suggested price. An original 1915 U.S. arm is quite rare with
original condition. The 98% guns are far and few between, unless you

I usually avoid value discussions, but I will take a dozen of these at $400 each. Original, honest Models 1911 bring relatively big bucks, even with little finish.
An honest gun is so desirable. Daily I open auction listings on my want lists for Models 1911 and once open, I find that the gun has been refinished (often sickenly called "redone"), "accurized," has the wrong stocks, etc.. (Why do not the sellers say "Modifed M1911 or "Refinished M1911" in the heading so that those who are interested in such guns will look instead of believing the listing is for a high-priced collector gun? The collectors who look will not be interested, and the potential buyers and seller are not united by such a misleading listing.) Honest guns are too rare. There is a certain attraction to look at one of these scarred old War Horses and speculate about the action it might have seen.
Closer to $1000 would be my estimate.0
