good shotgun for clays shooting

Hello recently I got interested in skeet and trap shooting (occasional Sunday fun) I was wondering if any one can give me advise on what shotgun should I look in to. So far I was using my brothers red label. Now I want my own. I was thinking of Beretta 390 or 391 but my budget is low (Christmas) what can I get in 500 to 850 price range. Also I got a Remington 870 Wingmaster from my father can I use it to shot clays and if yes how does it perform overall.

    The most important thing in sport shotguns is fit. The rifle must fit you well if you expect to shoot well.

    With different models close your eyes quickly raise to shoulder ready, open your eyes and you should be looking perfectly down the barrel. You will notice a difference between models and a few may work well. Then out of those pic options you like better than others. looks should be last on your list, Who cares what you or the gun look like if your breaking 5 out of 5!

    I have been using a rem 1100 to bust up clays, and it's worked great for me so far.

    Yes you can use the 870 for clay busting. How it performs depends on fit, barrel length and choke, and how sensitive you are to recoil. Most 870 trap shooters use a 30 in. barrel with a full choke and usually have some sort of recoil reduction device.

    The Beretta guns you mention are good choices, but I would take a look at a Remington 1100. A trap model new is in the $750.00 range and used ones can be had for $400.00 and up. Recoil wise they are tops, due to being gas operated. In my opinion the 1100 is the best value for the money when it comes to a target shotgun.

    Try Brownings' Citori. Look for a good used one. I've got a 26" in that I use for skeet and clays and it also has a 3" chamber that I just used for pheasant in Kansas.

    i have the above mentioned REMINGTON 870 compatition trap gun. it has the 30" BBL, and the recoil reducing device. i have used it in ATA approved shoots, and at our clubs trap house. while the 870TC is a step up from the average wingmaster, almost any 870 makes a good entry level 1st trap gun. if you do well, and want to do some serious trap and skeet shooting, then you will have to get a better, purpose built dedicated trap/skeet gun.

    the 870TC is a good buy if you can find one. its about the most affordable entry level trap/skeet/compatition gun on the market. good luck. tell us what you get and how you do.

    How about hk fabarm gold or red lion. I found one on gb for 500 26" barrel. Will it be good for clays?
