What exactly is a "light contour" barrel? How does one tell the difference? What are the differences?

  I'm surprised someone with more knowledge than me has'nt answered this, but a light contour barrel on a 1187 is just that, it is just a light weight barrel ie thinner walls on the barrel so the overall diameter of the barrel is less making for a lighter gun , on my 1187 the barrel is stamped light contour just in front of the 12 gauge stamping left side, the only other difference that I'm aware of is the channel in the forearm is smaller, so if you decide to put a standard weight barrel on your gun, which I believe you can , the receivers are the same , you will either have to get a new forearm or open up the channel on your forearm , to fit the bigger diameter of a standard barrel
