Savage .17
I was given a new Savage .17 for christmas. The information I have found out is that it shoots very well. If fact I was told by severl gun shops it out shoots the Marlin and Ruger. Does anyone have this gun and how does it shoot for them. I have not yet had the scope put on it.

i have a friend that bought a Savage and loves his. he has shot about 300 rounds through it and has a good scope on it and is getting 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards. 0 -
Savage has a reputation for building very accurate rifles out of the box. Their barrel making process is reputed to be second to none in mass-produced rifles.
I have two of the same bolt rifles in 22 mag. One the wood stock, blued, w/standard barrel. The other is Glass stocked, SS, with the heavy barrel (drilled and tapped too!!) Both rifles shot groups of less than 3/4". The heavy barreled model will shoot less than 1/2" groups (100yd groups, and I have witnesses)with it's favorite CCI load (the Gold Dot or the extra velocity). I have purposely waited to buy a 17HMR until the Savage rifles were available [^]!
By the way...are the 17HMR actions drilled and tapped? I hope they are!

I took mine straight from the store to a prairie dog town.On the fourth shot i killed a dog at 180 yds.Then I took it to the range and really sighted it in.I didn't get 3\4inch groups but it wasn't the guns fault .This gun can shoot way better than I can. 0 -
My friend got one for christmas also. we shot it on Friday. I thought the trigger pull was very heavy. Other than that it shot good. 0
