warne quick detachable scope system
I have been reading about this system by warne that allows you to take off the scope and re-attach it and it will be exactly at its original zero. I find this hard to believe, but if it really works I could save a lot of money by buying one quality scope and switching it among my guns depending on the season. any input?? thanks

I am going to get an in line and scope it. I have been thinking about the detachable mounts, for easy cleaning. I don't trust them because it seems like you would lose your zero. But I have gotten three evaluations about them on the internet and all three are positive. I know two were guys talking about Weaver mounts and they said they go right back to zero. Hard to believe but I am going to give them a try. 0 -
...a little history may be in order here, The late Leonard Brownell designed the quick release system back in the early days of Kimber (before the company folded). They were some of the finest rings on the market, yes they did hold to a perfect zero. After Kimber folded Warne began producing these with some slight variations...Dave Tally rings are almost an exact copy of the originals that Brownell designed. I've got Warne, Kimbers, and Talleys on 11 different guns...never have they been off zero.
One feature I really like is the ability to switch high priced scopes from one rifle to another (providing the spacing of bases are the same). On a couple of these swaps all I do after installing is adjust the elevation....neat concept!0 -
Is it Warne who grinds the rings as a matched pair (serialized)? It sounds like they go through a lot of expense and machining to produce HIGH tolerance pairs. If this is the case it would not surprise me that with a high grade scope and properly torgued ring and base bolts that you could return to within a 1/2'' at 100yds. That would NOT be too bad!!
