How much is this Enfield worth?
I have lead on this Enfield and was wondering what it might be worth. I haven't seen it yet. I was told it is a Fazakerly 1954 all matching #'s VG-cond. for $175.
Does this sound good?

In v.g. condition, the price is right. In case you don't know the difference between a No.4 Mk 1 and Mk 2, in the Mk 1 the trigger is pinned to the trigger guard/magazine housing and could supposedly be moved out of contact with the sear by swelling, warping and moving of the stock wood surrounding it. In the Mk 2 the trigger is attached to the receiver and was designed to not be effected by the aforementioned problems. I have both, and have had problems with neither; but I do not let them sit out in the rain! 0 -

Oedius,....this is a good question on a rather common (you would think) rifle that, to me, takes a little more of a complicated answer.
There were, a while back, some of those rifles, in, supposedly never unwrapped arsenal paper wrapping, all worked up in the 50's, unissued, for almost 300.00. (Sometimes with a bayonet)
The appeal was not that great, beings they were "after war", and, I believe that all the wood was rather blondish. Just not your expected Br. En. look. Besides, the sticker shock was very great.
Then, not just too many years ago, I seen boxed up fresh imports on tables for 70.00. (They were always Mk. 1's.)
Of course those 70.00 rifles are now 125.00 - 150.00.
Much more to be brought out here, but in the interests of brevity, that may show that, when speaking of that rifle, there are several pedigrees that these appear in, the most important being of the one your gun-loving mind puts it in.

I know, it seems like even the "beater" rifles (when it comes to the Enfields) have really started to climb in price lately. I found one of those unissued No.4 Mk2's last week for $395 plus shipping. It was very tempting but, I just want a good solid shooter that doesn't look too bad and still will not "destroy" my budget.

oedius I got a real good one from Julescody. He always has auctions going on here at GB and on the other site. Just search for his auctions. I also bought a NO1 that had been converted to .410. It is realy neat. He also has a web site but I lost it. He will even hand pick them out if you ask him.
