Paint scuff on wood stock
I have a Marlin 39A that has a scuff on the stock, I can't tell if it fell against a wall and was scuffed or same jughead was painting the wall and brushed paint on the stock. Any idea on how to remove?? The gun is a 1971 Marlin 39A Article II, great shape except this surface blemish.

Usually, such scuffs will scrape off by use of a fingernail. Shoot a little Hoppe's No. 9 on it first.

Try WD-40. I used it to remove what I thought to be paint scuffs from a Winchester rifle stock. WD-40 disolves lots of unwanted things on finished wood.

I agree with W-D 40.Spray it,let it set a few minutes and it will usually work. 0 -
W-D 40 is great but I never use the spray. Use the liquid WD-40 only.

Try the WD-40. I agree with 101 that you should spray it into a towel and then apply it to the stock. This just prevents the stuff from splashing onto parts of the rifle or stock were it might not be seen. If this sits TOO LONG it COULD damage some of the more sensitive finishes or the coatings on scope lenses [:0] . It also can dissolve or reduce the protective properties of lubricants/preservatives on the metal parts.
