The .22 hornet is a center fire, but a very small case. The ballistics are somewhat higher than the .22 mag rim fire. They are good for rabbits, ground hogs,Crows, and the like out to about 100 yards. It is an old caliber, and recently enjoying a resurgence in popularity. They are lots of fun to shoot, but,the ammo is kind of pricey when compared to the .22wrm or.17 rim fire. But then, they are re-loadable. The Kimber is a fine rifle, With A factory squared action, target quality trigger and very good stock work. All you will need, if it does'nt have it already, is a good scope.0 -
Can not comment on the Kimber "Cascade", as I do not owm one, but the Kimber's I do, or have owned, have proven to be good rifles.
Have done alot of both prairie dog and coyote hunting with a .22 Hornet with great success. Rifle of choice is a Browning Low Wall with a Leupold 3x9 variable.
