I'm thinking of replaceing my remington 700 trigger after the holidays what are some good choices? I want to be able to adjust it my self.

  Might I suggest http://www.brownells.com/index.html, Quit a few differant brands and Price ranges, (from one extream to the Other) plus tons of other goodies to for your 700 stocks, Barrells, etc.

  D&D, What are you trying to accomplish by replacing the 700 trigger? They are adjustable (by a competent smith) down to about 2 lbs and still function reliably. As far as the factory triggers go, it's one of the easiest to work with in my opinion. Some of the aftermarket triggers out there are nothing more than a 700 trigger themselves and they get sold for outrageous prices and aren't any better. GHD

  GHD is correct. Why waste money when the 700 trigger is as good, or better, than a Timney (IMHO). We put a Timney on the first 700 my brother bought, adjusted it, he used it a while and decided he liked the stock trigger better. I adjusted the trigger on my 700, the last time, about 10 years ago. Breaks at about 3 pounds. If it is a newer model 700, I understand they are rougher than the old ones. You can take it to a good 'smith and let him take the trigger apart and do some polish work to smooth it up.

  D@D,
  After using my Model 700- 35 yrs, & with no problems, except I could feel more "creep",in the trigger I had two different gunsmiths ( at least I paid for gunsmith work) try to adjust it. I was never saisfied with their adjustments. I finally had a Basix (from Sinclairs International) installed, don't know if this gunsmith was better, but it's definitly better-no creep, & breaks clean. I think the factory Remington triggers are pretty good.

  Jewell trigger. Worth the money. Also in Sinclaire International cataloge.

  Thanks for all the replies, the reason I was thinking of changing my trigger it is real hard to pull and a buddy of mine said I can't adjust the factory trig, so much for his advice guess we are of to the gunshop.

  I did reply to your 12/22/2002 trigger replacement topic. I'll try to get a sheet of Remington directions to you. If I can't email it I'd be glad to photo copy it and snail mail it to you.
  
  You should be able to adjust the weight of pull to a reasonable level...as long as it isn't much below three pounds. Be careful on a sporting rifle that you'll be walking (and falling)across fields and over fences! [xx(]
  
  Best to save weights of under three pounds and/or very little creep to bench-rest rifles! [;)]
