Loctite
I wanted to now what kind of loctite I would use to lock the bolts down on a scope mount? I do want to be about to brake them free one day.

Loctite Blue is the nonpermanent Loctite; Loctite Red is the permanent -- some scope-mounting instructions say never to use Loctite, but I've used the Blue, because I like to be absolutely sure nothing is going to vibrate loose. 0 -
You can use finger nail polish or even aerosol paint. Anything to keep the screws from vibrating loose. I usually use the red loctite on the bases. A little heat will break it loose, if you decide to remove them later. 0 -
Go with the blue, thats from 2 seperate gun smiths. 0 -
My info is likely out of date, but back when I was using the product on a daily industrial basis, we routinely used various grades of Loctite on screws and bolts which were subject to vibration and had no trouble at all breaking the bond using care and the proper tool (*very* important!!) without stripping any heads. Don't use the heavy duty stuff for something like this, however; a drop of the blue would be more than sufficient. 0 -
Teflon tape, been using it...it's a pain to work with but it is good... 0 -
Blue loctite, also make sure your threads aren't buggered up. 0 -

The Blue for sure. Even tho I don't use anything on the threads (except for my 300 Win. mag) the screws on the 22-250, 270, 7mag and '06 have never worked loose. 0 -
I use the blue loctite. If you ever need to remove screws, heat the screw heads with an electric soldering iron. It will cause the dry locktite to fracture and you can remove them with out damage. Be sure to clean the threads with lighter fluid or alcohol to remove all the oil before you use the loctite. 0 -
I have never needed to use loctite on a rifle. Hmmm 0
