my lovely wife just bought me a thompson omega in-line muzzle loader for 369.00. is this a "top of the line" muzzle loader as the salesman told her? thanks johnny

Look at your wife and give her a big hug and thank her very much. You have one of the best muzzleloaders on the market. I bought mine before the first season started in MS and have enjoied hunting with it during muzzleloader season. The rifle is so simple and easy to use. It is a breze to clean and it is extreamly accurait.

Your wife did not get bs-ed, nor did she pay too much. It is the most technologically advanced muzzleloader, very accurate, simple to load primers and easy to clean. 0 -
I'm kinda bummed out ... my wife did not get me one. She did fall a break her wrist yesterday (or maybe she would have![;)][;)]) I'm happyt for you though!

Say, how do those things kick with three pyrodex pellets? Is it worth using that much powder?0 -
And while I'm asking ... is the longer barrel worth it? They all seem sooooo barrel heavy, to me anyway. Is the longer barrel only a factor in shooting "magnum" loads?

anders- The scoop I am getting on the inlines is that 3 pyrodex pellets kick like hell. Generally accuracy suffers a lot when using that much powder. The advertising of "magnum" in lines is, apparently, Madison Avenue hype. I havn't found anyone who thinks that Quick loading feature on the Omega is very good, and I have talked with two guys who had it cut off, they said it was not centered and their accuracy improved after the Quick loading part of the barrel was severed. That said, the Omega is still a great rifle, from all accounts I have read, and I have talked with 30 Omega owners. 0
