Remington 870 barrel ??

Will one of the newer Rem choke barrels fit on an older Wingmaster receiver?I picked up one today with folding synthetic stock and 18" cyl. barrel.If i don't trade the gun away i may try to trade just the stock and barrel to make this into a REAL gun again.Not sure what barrel will fit.Thanks.

  old single shot : if you're looking for one, I have a used 870 stock and also a couple of barrels I would part with , 30 " full and 26" skeet, e-mail me for more info if interested rjgaede@centurytel.net

  Yes a newer 870 barrel will fit the older Wingmaster. As
  long as it is not a Special Field 870 version, 21 or 23 inch barrel, this model was discontinued in 1995. I believe these were limited to three shots, so the ring is mounted shorter on the barrel than the 5 shot models.

  I am not familiar with the Special Field. Is this set-up for upland bird hunting or is it a youth model?

  --The special field model has a normal length of pull with straight english style stock.It has a 21" vent rib barrel and a shorter slimmer slide handle.I would say more for upland hunting than as a youth model.Available in 20 or 12 gauge.
