Value of a DU Beretta shotgun

I don't know too much about the gun yet, but it was purchased at a DU banquet in 1987, and has never been shot. It has the hard case, the certificate from DU and all. Is it worth more not to have been shot or is that neglible as long as it is in good condition?[?]

  There were two Beretta DU commemrative shotguns made for Ducks Unlimited during 1987 and both are Model 303's. The 12 gauge was made from 1986-87 while the 20 gauge was available from 1987-88. The were many more 12 gauge guns made (5500) compared to the 20 gauge (3500) so the 20 gauge commands are premium. As with any commemoritive firearms, these guns are only valuable if left in unfired condition with all of the materials that were furnished with them at the auction. If you fire the DU it will quickly deprecite to the price level of an ordinary Model 303- maybe a few bucks more, but that would be all.
  
  There is a limited resale market for DU guns but they are sought after by some collectors. I'd say the 12 gauge would be worth around $600 and the 20 gauge would bring another 15% above the 12 Gauge. Without doubt the 303 is a very fine autoloading shotgun and would serve you nicely. But if you fire your DU it will be just another gun in the duck blind.
