Info on value ,model and age of Browning 12 gauge...no B5675..St Louis MO.

An old guy I know was asking me to find out some information on a shotgun he has so I told him I would look into it. I do not have a lot of information but hopefully someone will know what I am talking about. The guy said that it is a Browning 12 gauge semi-automatic but it only has a 2 shot capacity. I found that odd that would even make a semi-auto with 2 shot capacity, seems to defeat the whole purpose. He also said that it was a limited edition with only a few made (I don't remember how many he said). Anyways he wants to know what it is worth even though he is not looking to sell. He was drinking when he told me this so he wasn't able to give me any model number... I have never seen the gun and I can look further into it but I just wanted to know if anyone might know right off hand which gun this is. 0 -
Not so! It's a Double Automatic or Twelvette. Made for about a decade from the mid 50's.
Value, depending on condition, will be at least $100.00 less than for a A-5... Probably more like $200.00 for the nicer guns of comparable condition.
Oh... Gas operated, unlike the A-5.

Browning made a "Double Automatic" with steel receiver, a "Twelvette
Double Auto" with an aircraft alloy frame, and the "Twentyweight Double Auto", also with the alloy frame.
The "Twelvette" with the royal blue or gold receivers and "vent-rib" barrel get quite pricey here in north-central Florida.
The "Twentyweight" can go for pretty big bucks as they are a fast quail machine.
I can't say that I have ever seen one that was gas-operated. The one I had and the ones I have seen were short-recoil operated, that's not to say that they didn't exist---just that I never saw one.

I have a two shot Browning B-2000, that is gas operated.Is is a 1979 Model. It was made in Beligum. The older two shot Browning that I have shot were recoil operated.I don't know the price of your friends, but they were very good guns.

I stand corrected about the gas operation... Didn't have my memory in gear.
Values are funny, aren't they? Here in the northeast the A-5 is king. Put an alloy receiver on a gun and it drops in value. Put a red or blue annodized receiver on a gun and you'll have folks rolling on the floor.
Nice high quality gun though. After all, it's a Browning!

It is probably a Browning Twelvette. I am looking to purchase one (hopefully) to end a family feud, my mother in law will not divide her deceased husband's guns and 3 of the 4 boys have been fighting over one of these for over 3 years. quote:Originally posted by quamnet

i collect double autos. if anyone ever has a question on these guns, just let me know.
btw...B-2000's are 4 shot guns.
ask your friend if his gun has the original buttplate. if it does, ask him how many eyes are showing on john browning. one eye or 2?
if its 1 eye, its a pre 1960. if its 2, its a post 61.
look at the forearm, is it curved or squared off? again, 1960 or 1961. older guns had curved f.a.'s and newer ones were squared off.0 -
Never heard of a 2 shot B2000 either, but then again all of my semi-autos are 2 shot if I only put two shells in. 0
