Marlin M-29
My friends father passed away recently, his widow has to pay some of his bills. He has a Marlin M-29 .22 caliber pump. The gun is in excellent condition. I have looked all over the place to find a value on the rifle for him but to no avail. The books don't even have the M-29 listed, the list up to M-27 and then skip to M-31. Is there someone familiar with this rifle that could give me a helping hand?

MARLIN MODEL 29 RIFLE
SLIDE ACTION .22 RIMFIRE RIFLE(.22S, .22L, .22LR)
MANUFACTURED 1913-1917
23" ROUND BARREL WITH BALLARD STYLE RIFLING
HALF LENGTH MAGAZINE, SMOOTH SLIDE HANDLE
its essentialy a MARLIN MODEL 20, with some production changes designed to cut manufacturing costs. in NRA excellent its worth about $350.00. the recent popularity in cowboy action shooting, and a renewed intrest in older vintage .22 rimfire rifles means that it commands a small premium right now. you can expect to get as much as 10% over blue book with the right buyer. the model 20 had a longer octagonal barrel, a high grade walnut stock, and was a LEWIS HEPBURN PATENT takedown model. the model 29 was the budget or entry level slide action in the marlin line. the action action locks by pivoting the locking bolt down against the reciever. these are nice guns, and you are lucky to own one. best regards, mike.
