I need to replace my tumbler media what is everone using these days?

  i am still a little confused, what is the purpose of treated corn cob media, untreated corn cob media, and crushed walnut media? one person says one thing and then someone else contradicts that!!! which one is the cleaner, and wich one is the polisher?? i used treated corn media from lyman today and it left i slight green film on the brass,and it seems that it wasnt as clean as it should be even though i cleaned it for 4 hours. it was shiny but the inside still had a little powder residue- this is so damn confusing

  I use the ground corn cob media with Midways polishing liquid. I have to be careful with the liquid as to much of it causes the primer pockets to stop up. I quit using the red polishing liquids because of the red residue on the cases.

  I use ground walnut, with Midways polishing compound. It seems to get the really nasty cases cleaner than the corn cob.

  I use corn cob media with brasso. Don't really see any decrease in case life between it and non amonia based cleaners.

  I use corncob with rice to polish, walnut with rice to clean, midway polish in both.

  RCBS walnut media with Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish (tsp in about a pound of media worked through for about ten minutes prior to adding the cases first time round.) The polish cleans cases up in about an hour with a really nice shine--untreated takes twice as long and not as well.

  1. I am voting with "jonk" on the walnut and rice for the initial cleaning. However, I use tube (paste) "Flitz" to charge the ground walnut hulls with.
  
  2. I also use corn cob media charged with liquid "Flitz" for the final polish.
  
  3. You can generally find the ground corn cob for much less if you buy it at a pet store. It is used in the bottom of bird cages. Also, I buy it at the local "Tractor Supply" store in the pet section.
