any pros & cons on these two. am looking at 22-250 for the cal

without a doubt, buy the savage. make sure you get one with the new accutrigger though! 0 -
They are both excellent rifles. I think you'll find more aftermarket "stuff" like composite stocks and such for the Savage.

dheffley is right on, both are great guns and accurate as a remington or winchester but the savage has more aftermarkets and has the new trigger. FYI my savage 12fv shoots 1/2 inch with ease in .223 0 -
My choice would have to be the Savage.I got the 12BVSS in the 223 andthe 12FVSS in the 308 and they are both excellant shooters.I would highly recommend getting the trigger worked on or buying an adjustable trigger.This is the only thing on the gun that could have been better. 0 -
I have the Howa in .308. I have taken over 30 deer and a couple of elk with it and never had a problem in any weather condition. I have taken shots at up to 490 yards and have never had any problems. I have also owned several of the Savage models and as the other stated there was never a problem with them. Good Luck....[8D] 0
