Stevens 311-date & chokes??
Can I get help to decipher codes on this piece? Model 311A, 12 ga., 28", 2 3/4 & 3" Receiver & forend both have "BF", and a circled "H" (I think the H = 1956?) Bottom rear of barrels has "14 LV". Back top of barrels marked 51 & 52, circled, respectively. This thing seems very sturdy...good shooter?

THE 311 28 INCH BARRELS WERE USUALLY A FULL AND A MOD. TAKE A NEW DIME AND CHECK THE BARRELS . IT WILL FIT INTO A MOD CHOKE . IT WILL NOT FIT INTO A FULL CHOKE. DO THIS IF A CHOKE GAUGE IS NOT AVAILABLE. MOST OF THESE GUNS WILL CRACK THE STOCK WITH 3 INCH SHELLS.
