AA should mean an Agusta Arsenal re-build. Ser. No. 487 is a Colt from
pre-1911. Perhaps check your serial no. again. I believe that you missed a few digits. If Parked and probably so-due to AA stamping, worth considerably less than a blued/serialized matching slide and frame. Do check the No.'s again. Probably not 1920's. There are many
fake boxes for sale. Pls get the serial no. correct--use "x's for the last two if concerned. Best 1010 -
It might be an M1911 made in 1912, but more likely part of the serial number was removed during refinishing at the arsenal. Sometimes the serial #s were re-stamped with X-series #s if totally obliterated.
We need to know if the slide matches the frame, and if the barrel is a USGI replacement. I would expect a chrome barrel with COLT .45 AUTO stamped at the top. Arsenal rebuilds sell in the $400-700 range, depending upon condition & area of the country.
The box has no value. It could only be a DCM shipping box.

I saw the gun a month ago ser#487xxx plastic grips kraft box? Marked as above plus an Inspector mark

nelchris....487XXX would be a Colt M1911 made between Oct. 24th, 1918 and April 10th, 1919. It should have wooden, not plastic grips.
Military M1911s and A1s were shipped in wooden crates, not boxes.0
