Slow burning ball powders
I have been reloading for longer than I care to remember. I've always used the old single stage presses until now. I have been given a new multi-stage press. My problem is this, I have used Winchester 785 and Hodgdon H450 with great success, both now discontinued. Any recommendations? I want to use a ball power since it is metered much more accurately. Having to weigh each charge would tend to defeat the purpose of the turret press. I intend to reload for three (3) cartridges that require a slow burning rate. First, the old standby, the 270, then a couple of wildcats I designed. I split the difference between a 6MM Remington and a 6MM/06. The case length is 60MM as oppsed to the 57MM for the Remington and 63 for the '06. Neat cartridge.....next I improved the 6.5 X 55 with a 40 degree shoulder. All the have particular fondness for burning rates similar to the good old H4831, any suggestions greatly appreciated.

My 6 mm by 57 mm loves h-380, and h-414. You have more room for powder, than I, but it is something to think about, at least its ball powder. I'm like you in repect to ball powder, it flows like water.

Thanks for your input, if all else fails it will be H414 but all three (3) are better performers with a slower burning rate. 0
