Hakim ammo
Got a pair of Hakim rifles that I use for really big watermelons and for those 50lb prairie dogs. I heard that the Turkish surplus ammo is dangerous in those due to the light bullet affecting the cycling timing and causing case failures, sterility, and other bad things. Shot a bit of it with no problems, any experiences? Had best luck with 170-200 gr fmj's. I had some Ecuadoran MG ammo which was very accurate and blew through anything I put in front of it, but I am now out. I don't want to use the Turk ammo in it but I often have some laying around for my Mausers and didn't want to accidently catch a magazine in the luggage because of a case failure.[8D]

DOSEN'T THE HAKIM HAVE AN ADJUSTMENT FOR THE GAS SYSTEM? COSE IT DOWN UNTIL THE ACTION DOESN'T CYCLE THEN OPEN IT UNTILL IT JUST DOES. 0 -
Yes it does, I have adjusted it and I have fired some of the milsurp ammo with no problems, I had just heard several warnings about doing so. Maybe someone didn't know what the hell they were talking about[:D] 0 -
if you start out with the gas adjustment closed bad things will probably happen but if you do as mr. wiskey says i dont see any prob with any 8mm ammo(other than cleaning after corrosive ammo).
Ive shot the dreaded turk ammo in mine with no problems but it throws casing a lot further than most at the same setting.jmho[^]
