220 swift would be my choice. Just my non -expert opinion.

Depends if you reload or not. If not the 223 is a great choice. You can get great ammo for it cheap, use a savage bolt in 223 here in ohio for coyete and groundhog. For greater range of game I'd look more towards the 243, great varmit and deer gun. If you relaod the 25/06 is awsome and can be very versitle. the 22-250 is pretty much just an expensive varmit round.

Most I've seen was a Remington 700 in 22-250 with ss fluted barrel.Real nice rifles. Just my thoughts

243 winchester. You can get anything from 55gr varmit rounds to 100 gr for deer. Mild recoil, boxed ammo can be had almost everywhere and relatively cheap.

Call me old fashioned, but .22 Hornet is my favorite round for both coyotes and prairie dogs being shot out of a Browning Low Wall with a Leupold 3x9 variable.

I carry a .243 in my pickup all the time for coyotes i reload with the 55 gr nos bal tip and push them at 4000fps or so which is at 220swift vel very deadly coyote medicine have shot many coyotes at 300 yds+ with these just like shooting a laser and at that speed wind drift is very min with living in cent SD where wind on a calm day is 10+mph
i am going to build a 243 ackley in the near future that will be really sweet coyote medicine. the 25-06 will also make a great coyote gun as well as the 22-250 which i also use a lot.
I am a lot of help ain't i LOL.. my moto is to own a rifle chambered for every cartridge made.

Any reason for not going with a 6mm Remington. Excellent varmint round and strangely I've had better luck with long range shots using 6mm than 30-06, less drift I guess. Real flat shooter, something like 36" of drop at 500yds.[8D]

If your only objective is coyotes and smaller, go with the 22-250. You use the same bullets as a .223 but get a SUBSTANTIAL increase in velocity. Otherwise, you are better of with a 30-06[8D]
