I am thinking of trading my Remington 742 Woodmaster Semi-auto 30-06 for a Remington 721 Bolt Action, both are in great shape or should I keep looking?

I am new to hunting. I just started this year with a compound bow. I am looking at buying a 30-06 and am wondering if anyone knows any reliable models. I am not trying to spend a lot right now (over $400) but good to learn with. I saw a Mossbewrg and a Remington Model 700. Are these good? Thanks in advance. 0 -
Remington 700. That being said, the a-bolt is a very nice rifle with a smooth action. The bolt throw is also at much less of a lift angle, which will allow quick ejection and feeding of the next round.
If you want a semi-auto, I would suggest the BAR all the way.

For a general purpose hunting rifle, most people are more satisfied with a bolt action.
And may I commend your decision on 30-06 caliber.

Excellent choice of both gun and caliber. The A-Bolt is a fine rifle and will give you years of service.

I surly dont like my Browning because of the Boss System.I like the Remington Model 700 BDL.

Go with the 700 action. I like the Brownings, but the 700 is what I would want when the shot has to count. If you are budget conscious, the new Remington 710's are supposed to deliver real good accuracy at lower cost, great for when you don't want to feel bad about dragging your hunting iron through the bush and briars.[8D] 0 -
All depends what you intend to hunt with your rifle.If the quarry can fight back,forget the 700 and post 64 Win.70 and concentrate on a control feed bolt action.Mauser or Ruger or a few others have that feature.One never knows these days if a wounded bear is around the next bush.Unless you are Mr.Iceintheveins you may want to consider the unlikely.But possible.Good luck.

I dont know what the budget you have, but for cheaper model than the remington, i have a savage kit and it is very good, and i dont feel bad abusing it in bad deer season weather. I have no problems with the accuracy of the gun. Also take a look at the cz may not be a bad idea. take a look at them, i know there rimfire guns are good, and i have heard good things about there centerfires, but i have not personally shot them. They will also be alot easier on the budget than a remington. 0 -
