Stevens 410 bore 311 series H
Hi, I have a Stevens Model 311 series H double barrel in 410 bore. The wood is walnut toned with pressed checkering. Problem is, the varnish is flaking off quite extensively exposing the bare light colored birch wood making this gun rather unsightly. Can this be repaired or refinished without significantly hurting the value of this gun or should I just leave it alone? Thanks in advance for a reply.

Ugly or not, being a .410 makes that gun desirable. I don't see a refinish job hurting the value, but it won't increase either.
Value today will be about $400.00 if only showing finish problems on the wood.

Nord has it right. I think you will be lucky to find a nice one for $400.00. I would try to keep the refinish looking original. 0
