Ruger Automatic 22

I have aquired a Ruger 22 automatic and would like to have some info if anyone can help.

It's blued with a 4" barrel, non adjustable sights and says Ruger 22 cal. long rifle automatic pistol on one side of the receiver and Sturm Ruger & Co. on the other side. S/N 166XXX

Any information would be appreciated.

  MK I (Standard) Mfg 1958
  These were known as the Standard Mdl unitl the MK II came out then Became MK I

  Magzines for this gun are readily available, but will NOT interchange with the mags. for the Mark II.

  The grips also do not interchange. The MK I the screw holes are lower on the left grip and higher on the right grip than the MK II

  Hi, your early auto has the A54 grip frame.Unmamrked on both the Std.and Mark 1 target pistol. (1949-1970)Starting in 1971 they have the A100 grip frame.Number is stamped under the left grip panel.A100 grip panels will interchange with Mark II
  pistols by notching the top of the left grip panel.Mark II grip panels fit A100 frames as is.I have a few Ruger pistols and have checked all of this Myself.

  I don't know the exact date, but your Ruger Standard dates from the early sixties. It is as good, perhaps better in quality than the current run, and should prove more than accurate and reliable for any needs. I believe that Jim Clark, a national pistol champion said that the Ruger Standard is the ONLY non-target .22 that is capable of PERFECT scores.
  If you cannot find ORIGINAL mags, buy ones that have openings on BOTH sides of the mag body. These can be converted, in minutes, to fit any of the Rugers.

  As previously stated, yours is the Standard Model not the Mark 1 which was a 5 1/4" or 6 7/8" barrelled target model with target sights.
  The standard model sold for $37.50 and the Mark 1 sold for $57.50.
  Barrel lengths for the Standard Model were 4 3/4" and 6".
