Loads for 458 3.25" (or 458 Lott)

Just bought another gun I really needed. It`s a Ruger No 1 chambered for 458 3.25" (I understand this is essentially a 45/120 Sharps). The previous owner was using a duplex load of 12 grains 4227 under 100 grains of black powder or a load of 64 grains H322 - both with a 500 grain cast bullet. I have been told I can also use any loads intended for the 458 Lott.

I got some BELL 45 Basic brass and a few of the 500 grain bullets along with the gun. I have 45 caliber moulds in 300 and 340 grain weights.

Would much appreciate any loading data for this caliber or the 458 Lott. The older I get the less fun I have cleaning up after shooting black powder so I would prefer smokeless loads if possible. Also I no longer enjoy getting kicked around as much as I used to, so some light loads with 300/340 grain cast bullets would be nice.

What about "fillers" when using light smokeless loads in big cases ?

What about using 45/70 cases (with 45/70 loads) ? Or would the long jump to the rifling destroy any chance of accuracy ?

  Start with 80 grains of IMR3031. That is a load that used in my 450 Ackley with 400 grain bullets. Don't know what your brass will hold, but I know the Ruger #1 is a pretty stout action.
