I just recieved a LLama 45 model IX-B Bouught it on another auction site - are they reliable will they shoot any kind of ammo-accuracy

My dad had one (maybe still has) He had trouble from the start. It was touted as the "Mexican Colt". It cost quite a bit less than the Colt. Gun Jammed quite a bit even perfectly clean it was lucky if you could get throgh one magazine. Finally got that ironed out, and then figured out why he couldn't hit anything: Rear sight screw was stripped (or something) so the rear sight floated around. Later the magazine split a seam near the top, which was an impediment to operation somehow or another. By this time I stopped listening to him complain about his Llama .45. Don't know what he ever did with it, or if he ever got it to work properly. Of course his just might have been a lemon. Who knows, but when the only one you've seen has so many problems right out of the box it gives you a bad impression.

I HAD ONE IN THE SHOP A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, CUSTOMER COMPLAINED OF IT JAMMING A LOT. HE HAD THREE ORIGINAL MAGS. WITH IT. THREW THE MAGS. IN THE TRASH CAN AND SOLD HIM A COUPLE OF GOOD MAGS. PROBLEM SOLVED. 0 -
Well, the Llama isn't a "Mexican Colt"....it's a "Spanish Colt".
Llama quality varies...I've seen some that shoot perfectly and take any round, and I've seen some that jam on almost anything.
However, basically it's a sound gun....and usually any problems can be "tweaked" out of it.
If it were me, I'd use it as a shooter/plinker. If my life were on the line (as in a CCW), I'd want a Colt/Kimber/Wilson/Springfield.0 -
Mine was a jam-o-matic too. Not only that, it was so abysmally inaccurate that you could have put it to your temple to shoot yourself, and you'd have probably missed... 0 -
Back in July(?) this question came up and the answers were about the same. Save your money and buy something more reliable than a Llama. Mine was in the gunshop three times, hated all ammo, was miserably inaccurate, jammed no matter what clip I used. Sold it cheap just to get it out of my way. It did look good though, satin and blue, but that was it's only good quality. 0 -
Had one of these a couple years back. After about 200 rounds the slide spring needed to be replaced. I traded it to a friend and he's still shooting it with no problems. 0 -
i had one for a while but never liked it, wasn't the most reliable gun to say the least. dont waste you'r time save up for something better or trade it. 0 -
Hey dont you think its a little late in the day to be asking this question now? I dont own one, but was thinking about getting one. After reading all the disappointing comments, guess I'll save up for something else.
