Anybody got any advice for reloading .270. I have bought some powder, and was wondering if anybody has had experience w/ this particular brand. Alliant powder, type is: Reloader 19. Any response to this post would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

it been a long time since i reloaded for my 270win. i know mine likes 130 grain bullets if i remember right i used imr4350. i have not used rl19 so cant say on that but i would think that would be an alright choice for the 270win "i assume that you are talking about the 270 win?"

I use RL19 in my .300 Weatherby and like it a lot. I have not used it in a .270. My favorite .270 was IMR4831.

Thanks guys, I've got a buddy that also used IMR4350. Hey cowdoc a question on another subject from one of your replies to somebody elses question. You mentioned a .270 wsm. How much better are the ballistics over a strictly .270 win.

i dont have a 270wsm yet but will be the next cal i will get when i can aford to get a new rifle someday you can go to www.winchester-guns.com and read the difference between the old 270,7mm and the300mag vs the wsm's i dont remember how much difference for sure with out going back and reading again but i think you gain about 200fps with the 270wsm vs the old 270win acording to winchester.

Cowdoc is 200fps really worth the purchase of a new gun, new dies for reloading, and more expensive ammo? Just wondering.

yes that way i have another reason to buy another rifle :-) 200fps make quite a bit of difference on bullet drop and energy. where i live longer shots are more the norm than close shots, 400 yds shot on a deer or antelope is not uncommon, that extra 200fps is nice imho

Try 4350, 4831 and my last load was RL22, 130gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips will probably give you best accuracy, this year I took a nice muley with the 130 gr. Swift Scirocco, at 150 yds. bullet retained 79% of weight.
